Darkest Dungeon: What to Bring to Wealds

The Weald, one of the many challenging regions in Darkest Dungeon, can be particularly daunting due to its fungal enemies and their ability to blight and mark heroes constantly. Additionally, the ectoplasms' ability to use cytokinesis to spawn clones of themselves only adds to the difficulty level. To tackle this area effectively, it's essential to come prepared with the right items.

First and foremost, bring Blood Rings to ensure you have a constant supply of food for your heroes. If you don't have access to Blood Rings, aim to bring at least 12 Food items, but ideally 20 or more.

Another crucial aspect is choosing the right heroes for the job. The Warrens, for instance, are home to pig centaurs with significant health and party-wide damage capabilities. To counter this, consider using Occultist abilities that apply damage debuffs against them.

Among all the areas in Darkest Dungeon, I find that the Weald is one of the more manageable options for Veteran difficulty. However, it's still important to start with short runs and gradually increase their length as you gain experience.

Upgrading your heroes' skills and equipment can also make a significant difference. Focus on trinkets that boost damage against specific enemy types, such as human or unholy enemies found in areas like the Ruins. Additionally, prioritize upgrading skills that you use frequently, like Vestal's healing abilities.

It's also essential to choose classes that are better suited for each area. For example, a Hound Master might not be effective in a Cove with bleeding-resistant enemies, but they excel in the Weald.

Finally, knowing your dungeon area and adapting your strategy accordingly can greatly improve your chances of success. Among skills, prioritize upgrading those you use most frequently, such as Vestal's healing abilities.

In my first Veteran run, I learned the hard way that it takes time to adjust to the increased difficulty level. However, with experience and the right preparations, even the most challenging areas like Wealds can be conquered.
